Human Exposure I Congener Pattern and Enantiomer Ratios of Toxaphenes in Human Milk

چکیده
Human milk is the most favorable nutrition for infants. Unfortunately, human breast milk also contains traces of persistent organochlorines (OC). This leads to exposure throughout the breastfeeding period. The levels of OC in milk depend on many factors such as mothers age, number of deliveries and lactation periods, place of residence, changes in the mother's weight during lactation or nutrition.

Incidence of Aflatoxin M1 in Human and Cow Milk in Kashan, Iran
Background: It is known that Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) contamination in milk can have carcinogenic, teratogenic, and mutagenic activities especially in liver for both children and adults. The main aim of this survey was to investigate the incidence of AFM1 in human and cow milk in Kashan, Iran. Methods: A total of 42 breast milk samples were collected from a central hospital in Kashan city during 3-...
متن کاملExposure to mixtures and congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls.
There are 209 congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), the metabolism and toxicity of which vary by congeners. Use of PCBs is now restricted, but environmental contamination and human exposure persist. Analysis for "total PCBs" in biological samples gives limited information; congener-specific analysis is far more informative, but more complicated. Concentrations of congeners in serum/pla...

For nonoccupationally exposed persons, the daily intake via food consumption has been calculated to be 0.35 pg/kg body weight per day for 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) and 2.3 pg/kg body weight per day for TCDD equivalents (TEqs). As compared to food, other sources and pathways are of minor importance. Food of animal origin contributes most, although human exposure begins with atmo...
متن کاملAgent Orange Exposure and 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-Dioxin (TCDD) in Human Milk.
Agent Orange was sprayed in parts of southern Vietnam during the U.S.-Vietnam war and was a mixture of two chlorophenoxy herbicides. The mixture was contaminated with 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). TCDD and other dioxins and furans are measurable in the milk of Vietnamese women. We explored whether the TCDD in milk from these women was from Agent Orange and whether lactational expo...

In the State Laboratory of North Rhine-Westphalia for Food, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Chemistry (Chemisches Landesuntersuchungsamt), more than 600 individual human milk samples have been analyzed for polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), and more than 1400 individual milk samples have been analyzed for organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and po...
